Parking

As the University of Wisconsin is located in the heart of downtown Madison, parking in the area is limited. Please allow at least 20 minutes to park and make your way to the Red Gym, which is the check in location for the Admission Information Session and Campus Walking Tours.

The following two parking ramps are located a few blocks from the Red Gym. While you may find metered parking spots near the Red Gym and on area streets, most have a two-hour parking limit. Because the Admission Information Session and Campus Walking Tour lasts for 3 hours, this two-hour parking limit is not sufficient. Do not park in a metered two-hour spot. Instead, utilize one of the two parking ramps:

City of Madison State Street Campus Ramp

  • 415 N. Lake Street
  • $1.10 per hour
  • Cashier or pay station (accept Visa, MasterCard, and cash)

Parking Lot 46 Ramp

  • Located at the corner of Johnson Street and Lake Street
  • $1 per hour
  • Metered parking available for up to 10 hours on the lower level and near the Francis Street entrance; meters accept coins only.

A limited number of full and half-day parking permits for select campus ramps are available for purchase. The cost for half-day parking permits is $5 and for full day parking permits is $8. For more information, contact UW Transportation Services at 608/262-8683.
